Isla’s Pre-K graduation

IMG_4068

So proud of this little girl!  They put on a wonderful show of all the things that they learned this year.  Ed and I were there and my mom and dad came too.  I think that she felt really special.

Here is Isla and her best friend!  What big changes in them on the last 10 months.  They will be in the same kindergarten class in the fall, look out St. Elizabeth Seton here they come!

Here is a little sample of her performance.

So here is Isla in the morning after I was done curling her hair.  She was not happy with me.  I touched the back of her arm with the curling iron and she was in pain and not a happy camper.  I felt awful!  But doesn’t her hair look nice.  Today we are going to get it cut, a few inches to make it a little cooler for summer.

Isla’s First Field Trip!

 IMG_4016

Here is my girl!  Her first field trip and she was soooo excited.  She got to have her first trip on a school bus and her first field trip.  When you have an older sibling it is hard to wait your turn for your own field trip.

It was a beautiful day!  Lots of sun but not too hot.  Isla made her t-shirt at Pre-K on Wednesday and just had to wear it today.

IMG_4022

We took a break to have some lunch.  A bit of miss-communication there but we eventually all got hot dogs.  This is one of Isla’s best buddies.  They go to day home and Pre-K together, I love this picture!

IMG_4024

This was Isla’s partner for the day and they took this job very seriously.  They always knew where the other one was and spent most of the day holding hands.  It was super cute!

IMG_4035

Here is the whole crew!  There were lots of parents as well so lots of us there to keep everyone together and happy.

IMG_4039 IMG_4040

It was a long hot day so us girls went for a slurpee as a reward for being so good and walking so far with no whining.

Cutest Campsite

I kept my nephews over night on Saturday night and put the tent up in the back yard.  It didn’t go too badly 2 out of the 4 kids slept out there!

Party

Ed was awesome and made up and set up a bunch of sports games for the kids to play.  Hockey, basketball, soccer, golf and then topped off by a game of hill ball.  What is hill ball, well one team tries to get the ball up the hill and into the hoop and the other team tries to stop you.  Lots of fun, and then a couple of spectacular crashes that made me cut the game a little short.  It is hard to explain to another parent how their child got hurt so better safe than sorry!

It was a great day for a party!  The weather was beautiful and we did everything outside.  Ed cooked up some sliders that the kids all loved!

After that kids left we had some of out friends and their kids stay for some more playing and some adult food and drinks.  The first beergarita’s of the season!

One of Ed’s Father’s Day gifts was this fire pit, and we had to try it out.  It worked wonderfully and we got to have the first smores of the season I love it!

The Cake

After lots of talk and searching the internet I found one that I could tackle.  Can you guess what it is?

How about now?

I hope you can now.  He was the most excited about the chocolate covered doughnut wheels!

Happy Birthday Adam

Look at where we started!  A little upside down baby, that was so anticipated, so wanted, so treasured, so loved.

To this big boy!

Happy 7th BIrthday buddy!

I think that he had a fantastic day!  We started the morning very early!  Ed got up to go to the gym at 5:30am and no one went back to sleep after that.  When Ed got back we opened presents and he got just what he wanted.  It was awesome to be able to do that for him!

Then I brought cupcakes to school and while I was there they sang him Happy Birthday.  He was just beaming!

IMG_3971

We went out for supper to Las Palmeras with Grandma and Grandpa and then back to our house for cake.  It was so much fun and I think that he felt really special.  He has been having trouble blowing out his candles, he had to blow them out one by one, I hope that there wasn’t too much spit on the cake!  A great day, man I love that kid!

Matthew

Sunday found us back on the highway up to Leduc.  It was Matthew’s First Communion.  He looked so serious.  Cute, but serious.

It was a beautiful hot day and the kids all wanted to run through the sprinkler, I hadn’t brought suits so they borrowed their cousins and had a fantastic time!  It was nice that the weather was finally nice, it has been a cool and wet few weeks.

Isla looked so much like a surfer chick.  Too cute!

Kelsey

Saturday morning found us up and out the door as we got in to the van I said, “Wait a minute, we forgot to have breakfast!”  Both kids had not even noticed.  I thought it would be fun to make  a quick stop at Tim Hortons on the way out of town but the kids thought I had really forgotten breakfast.  Hee Hee.

It was Kelsey’s confirmation and Ed’s mom and dad were in Calgary so it was nice to see everyone together.  I can’t believe how much both Mark and Kelsey are growing.  Here are a few pictures of us looking our best!

Adam’s birthday is tomorrow so while we were in Calgary we did a little celebrating that as well.  Isn’t he looking especially handsome!  We had to help him blow out the candles it was so funny!

The Terrible Christian Store

IMG_3894

It was a pirate theme day at Adam’s school today.  Doesn’t he look cute!  He got his picture taken for having one of the best costumes and he was tickled pink.  I think that it was the stubble.

This weekend we are having two church celebrations, our niece Kelsey is being confirmed on Saturday so we are off to Calgary to see Ed’s family.  His mom and dad will be there and it will be great to spend the day with them all.  Then on Sunday our nephew Matthew is taking first communions so we will spend Sunday in Leduc with my family.

With all of these celebrations we needed to do some gift shopping.  Last Sunday we had gone out for ice cream to the little Ice Cream Shoppe and as we were leaving I said to Ed, “We should go out to Scott’s Parable Christian Store to get some gifts.”  Adam pipes up from the back of the van,”Did you say the Terrible Christian Store?”  Well Ed and I burst out laughing and I don’t think that we have stopped since.  It ended up being closed and we finally made it out there on Wednesday, and of course we all laughed about going to the Terrible Christian Store the whole way there.  So much so that I gave the kids a stern warning that I did not want to hear anything about the Terrible Christians when we were in the store.  I was very thankful that they listened to me (this time!).

Sprinkler

So the temperature rose to about 20 degrees today and the kids were intent on a water gun fight and going through the sprinkler.  So what the heck!

Then they decided to run through the sprinkler.  Here is a little video of that.

Did you hear what Isla said at the end.  “Can you turn on the Hot?”  They were frozen when they finally quit.  But they sure had a good time.

My dancing darling.

It is the big weekend of dance recitals.  One last night and a second show this afternoon.  Isla has such a great time.  She was in the second half so her and I watched the first half and then went for a little snack.

Here we are together before we get dressed and ready to go.

IMG_3878

And here are a couple in her costume.  I think she looks so beautiful!  She did such a fantastic job up there on stage.  I was really proud of her, she is the youngest in the class by a year and you could never tell!  Part of it is that she is so tall but the other is that she knew her dance and did it really well.  She was a beautiful ballerina.

And here she is waiting for her turn to come.

Dress Rehearsal

This week is all about dance.  Isla has her recital this weekend and she has had a few rehearsals.  Last night was the dress rehearsal and I was able to video her tonight.  Here she is!  She is the one on the left hand side of the three on the left side of the stage.

Monkey Bars

Look at her go.  I missed the one that she made it all the way across and then she couldn’t do it again.  This is such a big thing!

Hummingbird!

I love this site. You really should go check it out quickly.  The little baby hummingbird is expected to fledge very soon.  It is so exciting to watch.  It was a little too exciting last week when a crow got one of the babies!
